I’ve been excited for you guys to get to this episode since you’ve been so anti JD and Elliot for so long, and I think you hit the nail on the head saying how mature it felt, it really contrasts well with the earlier seasons where both characters are just complete wrecks as people, especially when they dated each other. For as silly as the show still is, when you think of how these characters acted in the first few seasons there’s a clear sense of growth

Whether you ship JD & Elliot or not I still think this is a great written episode. Having the talk between them, being as if they are talking to the audience as well as themselves, is smartly done imo. EDIT: also since it’s finally happened I can tell y’all a fun fact. In the episode where Turk learns Spanish for Carla. there’s a part at the end where they say something in Spanish and there’s no subtitles. What they say in that scene is: Turk: I bet you that in six weeks they will be back together. Carla: Do you think so? Some people are not going to like that. Because of the writers strike it didn’t technically happen exactly in six weeks but it was already planned out.
