Kadarius Toney is one of my favorite players in the NFL. Prior to the 2023 season, a statement like this wouldn't have required an explanation. After the 2023 season, this requires an explanation in the form of an hourlong, two-part documentary or video essay or whatever you'd like to call it. If you'd like to join the Kadarius Toney Fan Club, or at least understand why such a fan club might exist, this is for you. Part 1 runs about 30 minutes, and Part 2, which will drop right here on September 2nd, runs about 45 minutes.

Since you're a Patreon subscriber, you'll get both parts months before they appear on our YouTube channel. We can't thank y'all enough. If you're a new subscriber, you've already got hours and hours of exclusive content waiting for you that haven't hit YouTube yet. Click here to check out the rest of the season of Pretty Good. And if you poke around on the feed, you'll find Secret Base's new Podcast, The Annex, along with a lot of other fun stuff.

Will always be grateful for the Giants picking him in the first round. It prompted the best ever fan reaction.

Can we talk about how Toney’s way of showing support for Jones after getting a concussion was to bump heads with him

smoov22

Wesley Enz

Is there an easy way to watch Patreon videos on a TV?

May Contain Fox-Like Substance

For the Giants to draft a guy for no better reason than clubhouse chemistry upside instantly shows more sense than drafting a running back second overall in one of the deepest quarterback drafts since 1983, so I say that 2021 draft was an improvement.

May Contain Fox-Like Substance

Jerry Butler, in a 46-31 win for the Bills over the Jets on September 23. I had to look it up after seeing it. The 5th overall pick in the 1979 draft had an otherwise unspectacular career, never topping 842 receiving yards in a season and struggling with injuries over a seven-year stint in the league. But for one day, man...wow.

Cole Ward

Cool Jon 👍

Aidan Rowan

I would figure that an average CFL game would actually contain a far *higher* amount of "sorries"

Char

As a lifelong Gator fan I needed this. I’ll always be a fan, but I can’t wait to get BoisBrained on our boy.

Rooster in my Rashee

Kadinjurous Proney is a top 3 mean sports nickname along with Wrecky Spinhouse and Ruin Tomorrow Jr.

As a person who was into college prospects, Toney always mystified me as someone who should not move like he does, someone capable of being both a running back and wide receiver and someone with such high potential that the general masses perceive as unfulfilled; regardless of how his pro career actually goes, what a unique character in football history. A player who can do it all, a player who left his mark, but a player who will lack the respect because of what he could’ve been

garrett gross

Kadarius has long been a favorite of mine. Moves like no one else. That 178 yard game had me convinced of his superstardom. IT WILL COME

Tim 🦆

yeah that's my biggest issue with patreon video. i've turned a linux laptop into a little streaming box for all my patreon subscriptions

Martin C

As a news radio producer, the "media are clowns" bit had me in stitches. We are clowns, Jon!

John Marvin

Truly what Taysom Hill wishes he could be - and yet at the same time, what he is glad to have avoided becoming

TitaniaBird

I'm down with this so far, just based on vibes alone.

Nathan Landel

I'm afraid Jon, what if you're right and I don't have what it takes?

KeegoTheWise

jon, i’m coming into this as someone who’s only known toney when he’s been on the chiefs. i’m gonna need to be sold on this

Elijah Bankston

As a giants fan i always knew he was good, but its saddens me to now know how good

Talon Karrde

I'm not even a football fan but I'm ready to be a Tony fan

S743957222

Great vid. However, in KT’s defense, an AR-15 is not an automatic weapon.

Wayne Shaw

Why you gotta disrespect Taysom like that, we Saints fans love Taysom just the way he is.

John Marvin

no disrespect at all - if anything I am complimenting him for staying consistent through his awesome career! love him as a player myself

Emily Binnie

Seeing those early career highlights as an Australian. I think part of the answer to the conversation is Kadarius Toney is in fact a rugby player. Those body mechanics and twisting in tight corners to gain little bits of ground or twist out of tackles, very typical of a lot of players in the NRL.

Tony Heron

I very much enjoy any player with fizzy hips making people look silly and therefore from a Tony to a Toney, I wish the man the very best. As a lions fan, he also provided the best opening game of my life. I hope that Jon somehow finds hope in this. Nothing stirs my soul more than Bois making me aware that sports people are often pretty good people. I am sure Kadarius would be delighted in this instance too.

Casey K

Listen: the world needs this. Kadarius needs this. I am going to give you my money here regardless, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I say pop this up on YouTube right away.

Dante Petrin

Seeing this made me think how difficult it would be for an NFL player to transition into league. It probably won't ever happen because of the large money disparity, but I think it would be easier than going the other way. Gridiron rewards specialisation, rugby league rewards versatility.

Emily Binnie

Pretty much agree. Hell, I believe that Jarryd Hayne did make that transition from Rugby to the NFL. If he'd stayed in the NFL I think he would have been a respectable RB3 or RB4 and kick returner. But he chose to go back to league, be a star instead of a bit player, and commit SA.

Joel D.

What a fascinating player. Also, Derek Carr? Good dude.

Ben

Such an interesting video. Sports fans raise players like Toney up because they’re good at playing football. But when they’re in the public eye, we demand that they be model citizens free of any lapse in judgment or controversy. If they mess up, we excoriate them. And with social media, EVERYONE has a chance to pile on. It’s a tough place to be for people who are literally just there to play sports. Looking forward to part 2 of the story.
