hi everyone, i hope you're all doing okay!

it's been a strange week, as i'm sure you can imagine. the good news is that the team at the sleep clinic seemed to be gently appalled by my symptoms (apparently the worst epworth sleepiness score they've seen in a while), and there'll be lots of tests/investigating. bad news, of course, is that there's no timeframe for any of it, so i'm back on the waiting lists 🤡 i don't have any appointment dates yet, but crossing my fingers it's not going to take another year to get started. as always, i just wanted to mention how grateful i am for your continued patience and support here on patreon- it allows me to keep working on the things i love at my own pace, which is really one of my biggest motivators to keep going (if you'll allow the moment of bleakness). thank you.

work-wise, this week i've been chipping away at everyday gloom (again, still, always) and i think we're making progress. i mentioned in the group chat that i was considering adapting the size again, as i didn't want to lose the newfound connection/overlap between my zines/illustrative work and my notebooks/commonplacing practice after the printed tn experiment didn't work out.

i still feel this is the right choice, and i'm very excited about the prospect of the blurred lines between my different creative practices, but obviously the fcc/personal size pages are a good deal shorter than standard tn, and the adjustment has taken me some time to work out.

these newer revised pages are a lot less busy than their previous iterations, and i'm not sure if that's a good thing(?) they've taken on more of a commonplace feel, which i think is nice, but it's so different from where i started that i find i'm feeling a little uncertain. my dad thinks it's a natural evolvement/progression, but i guess i'm not convinced it's "cool." the little tagging system is still intact for the ephemera (happily), and i've been filling some of the gaps on the text pages with spooky recommendations. i'm just not sure if it's all getting a little lost/convoluted! let me know what you think 🥲

this week i've also whipped up a new divider in fcc/personal size (and A6), a small spooky drawing as a little reward for getting through the week, i guess. recently i've been a little enamoured with people's collections of vintage blow mould lamps on pinterest- specifically by the photos of them all congregated together in all their weird glowy-halloween glory. i'll pop a photo in the group chat so you can see what i mean! i kept it pretty simple to match the style of the existing dividers, and i've attached the files below for you 🎃🖤(as a quick aside, i am enjoying this little digital filofax set-up very much- it's a lovely way to be able to share things, and will be how everyday gloom is (eventually) digitally presented).

okay, that's all for this week i think! hoping everyone has a lovely weekend 🌤️

take care and speak soon, friends x

so glad to hear the news about your appointment! as for the new pages, they make the project feel more like a little reference book, which i really enjoy! when you print them, would you still leave the little white border for the edges of the ephemera? the handwritten note is a really fun textural detail

glad your sleep stuff is moving along well. i'm in the same position, got my results from a sleep study back on thursday and am also awaiting next steps. it's a slog but it'll be worth it on the other side when you've got a diagnosis and some more understanding! sleep is so so important
