saturday 💭 (Patreon)

hi everyone, i hope you're all doing okay. sincerest apologies for the lack of video again this week- we've been dealing with some unexpected things at home, and i didn't find myself with enough time (or the right headspace, really) to pull it together. will aim to be back on track asap!

this week i've mostly been working on reformatting everyday gloom- at first just to see if it could work, and then i suppose i got a bit carried away because i was enjoying it. i've been shuffling things around slightly, experimenting with layering things up again, and adding in some new pages where sections ended a bit abruptly or lacked closure.

it's also been nice to gain the little extra room at the bottom of the pages for sourcing the older images/ephemera- that had been part of the original plan back when i started, but the previous sketchbook style pages were too small to accommodate it. these newer pages are obviously inspired by my commonplace books, and it's been nice to tie those two ends of my creative practice together. feeling v inspired to suddenly work on a lot of zines lol.

it's been nice in a lot of ways, especially as it's given me the opportunity to revisit some of the older pages from last year. it's also been keeping me nicely distracted, which is always a plus when there's weird stuff going on 🫡

my goal is to hopefully have everyday gloom finished by august, that way once it's all shared on the blog/in the shop i can pivot to working on some halloween pages for it 🎃💭 probably revisiting some older halloween zines (and maybe stickers), redrawing/tidying them up (and updating parts) to get them matching this new series/style. essentially the current thinking is to make a new version of 'home alone halloween', drawing in aspects from all my miscellaneous october projects from the last few years (and as always, very open to thoughts/requests in regards to this! always keen to hear what you'd like to see).

that's all i have today i think, i've been working pretty flat out on it 😅 but it's pulling together nicely now (i hope), and thankfully the reformatting isn't taking too long. hopefully you like the new look! let me know what you think 🙇🏻‍♀️
