Carmen and Angel were (and still technically are) married. They are currently separated, and have been so for nearly a decade.

Best friends since childhood, they tied the knot in early adulthood and did their best to help each other reach their dreams- for Angel, to be a famous muralist, for Carmen, to be a legendary dancer. Despite struggling on a shaky household income, they were happy, considering each day together to be an adventure. Their daughter Primrose was unplanned, and the pregnancy was quite difficult on Carmen. Primrose was born with several health issues and a motor disability that would hinder her walking, yet for all the medical expense and worry Carmen and Angel went through, they cherished and adored their daughter more than anything. They were happy. They were a family. They were happy.
