Gender roles in FB tend to vary by species. Many animals are egalitarian (domestic dogs and cats are notorious for this), some are matriarchal (eg. elephants, hyenas, meerkats), and some still, like lions, deer, and kangaroos, position males as the "dominant" sex. The males are expected to be leaders, to take charge, to woo mates and fight off rivals. This sort of gender essentialism is remarkably outdated in modern society (no need to fend off rival males with claw and fang anymore), but alas, these gender roles persist.

Kangaroo culture as a whole still clings stubbornly to patriarchal gender roles. Males (bucks) can be up to twice the size of females (does), which can fuel social perception that does are weak and helpless, needing a big tough male to step up and defend her. There tends to be a cult of machismo among dude kangaroos, idolizing toughness, emotional restraint, big hulking muscles, and aggressive pursuing of the fairer sex. It's a mixed bag how well this goes over with the ladies.

Silver is thus a very typical buck. Raised since childhood to be a champion kick-boxer, he was taught to view most males as potential rivals, and most females as potential partners. Due to his strength and brash personality, it's never been a problem for him to be popular, admired, center of attention- and he's hopped through a vast cavalcade of groupies, party buddies, hook-ups, ect. And yet...all these relationships have never been more than skin deep. Beneath his obnoxious ego, Silver is...secretly pretty lonely.

Enter Logan.

Logan is one of Bruce's more irritating neighbors at the boarding house. He's dumb af, but he makes up for it by his boundless kindness, high on life personality, and pure earnest emotions. He has a way of seeing a person right down to their core and has a way of coaxing that person into opening up and being themselves around him. This makes him an excellent fitness trainer and a very handy guy to have around in a  medical emergency (what Logan does know he KNOWS. He can actually learn things and retain info very quickly with hands-on experience, and sports  medicine is something he loves almost as much as triathlons).

Silver.....really never met anyone like his Lo-bro and sometimes it startles him just HOW close they got, and how quickly. Logan is his first true friend. Having been raised by a loving single mom and four older sisters, Logan doesn't feel the need to aggressively perform an unhealthy version of masculinity, the way Silver does. Logan thinks nothing of it to talk about his feelings, cry, or love up on his best buddy in the way of honest compliments and bro hugs. Silver is wary of this at first, but comes to realize....he's kinda been starved for exactly this kind of contact? For his entire life. It takes him a while to relax, but it isn't difficult to start mirroring his best friend's warmth. Nothing wrong with homies hugging homies, or cuddling during a movie or holding hands or giving the other a kiss when they're sad. In fact, it might just be Silver's favorite thing in the world.

Logan isn't a professional fighter like Sil, but he's happy to spar with him sometimes for exercise and fun. Kangaroos fight by kicking, clawing, and grappling, and it can get pretty intense. It's important for bros to have a cuddle sesh after to relax and recharge~

I literally LOVE this; I'm happy we're seeing Logan again :D Do Bruce and Silver's parents get a species change at all, or is wallaby dad no more?

lopoddity

Thanks! :D Wallaby dad is indeed no more. Bruce and Silver's parents are Fey (a grey kangaroo woman) and Silas (a tiny tasmanian devil dad).
