I imagine PB probably has a buried interest in the macabre that Midnight appeals to. He's normally pretty squeamish about gore and grim topics, but listening to Midnight discuss gruesome historical tales or the mechanics of being buried alive is always so morbidly fascinating. Much like the "Ask a Mortician" series on Youtube, where you can't help but play the next video, PB can't stop himself from asking more questions. Golly, was the inventor of the brazen bull really sentenced to burn alive inside it? What's it like to get sucked into a sinkhole? And Midnight is naturally content (secretly delighted) to answer every inquiry. And when she's finished, if Peebs still has the heebie-jeebies or is too scared to sleep, she'll hold his hand and encourage him to tell her equally cutesy stories and facts ("Nighty, did you know otters hold each others paws to keep from floating away?") until they're both relaxed and snuggled up and ready for bed.
