Glitzy Glamour Gladmane (formerly Gladys), the one and only daughter of Gladstone Gladmane. I'm still figuring out this character. This is definitely how I want her to look, I'm just not quite sold on her color palette. Looks too similar to Belle Velour. :/ Glitzy's original bio mom was Suri Polomare, but I'm thinking of changing it to Cherry Jubilee, if only to provide warmer color palette options. Anyway!

Since Gladmane himself is an obvious reference to Elvis Presley, I decided to take inspo from another beloved kitschy music icon, Dolly Parton. Hence big tatas and bigger hair- everything about Glitzy is big. She has a way of instantly taking over a room and commanding everypony's attention.......everyone but her father, of course. Sigh.

I initially envisioned Glitzy as a monstrous bully to Magnolia May, but now I'm wondering if it'd be more interesting for her to be......actually kinda nice. Sorta. Glitzy is of course a cutthroat businesspony and made of that same syrupy fake-cordial stock as Big Daddy Gladmane, but she does really, really want to be liked, and that means being nice. She's just not very good at it. Having been raised by her father (really by his disinterested assistant), she never really had anypony to model sincere kindness to her. So she approaches others with aggressive, vaguely condescending Southern hospitality and gentle teasing that really isn't so gentle at all. This is not a good way to make friends, and has absolutely earned her the ire of Magnolia May (which would startle Glitzy if she knew- she always thought she and Magnolia were like best friends? .....Aren't best friends supposed to be a little catty?)

Glitzy, as you may have noticed, ain't the brightest. She's often called "Ditzy" behind her back- not that anypony would dare saying it to her face, because of the power and influence her father wields. She's typically followed around by a small gaggle of sycophant pretty girls, who take the brunt of Glitzy's not-quite-bullying-but-still-bullying. So why do they stick around? Well, it's well known that Glitzy's always eager to help any mare down on her luck (and there are many in Las Pegasus). Some of the ladies Gladys has helped only stick around for an easy mealticket, but there's maybe one or two that genuinely appreciate the work Gladys does, and would adamantly defend their "boss".

notes

-Magnolia thinks she's tacky and fake as shit. She gets much satisfaction out of the fact that Glitzy flunked out of the beauty school they both attended

-Glitzy has a deep-fried Tennessee twang to contrast Magnolia's airy Georgia debutante drawl

-popular night time singer at several of Gladmane's clubs, sounds a bit like this

-has a vested interest in Magnolia, keeps tabs on her. Whenever they cross paths Glitzy will brag a LOT about her success and riches compared to Magnolia's paltry Ponyville beauty salon.....but it's possible this is a misguided attempt to impress Maggie. Toying with the idea that they're actually bitchy exes

-Bruce is so terrified of this woman you don't even know

-"Daddy" Gladmane rarely talks to her except to chastise her spending/scold her for doing something stupid

You know, I thought she was Cherry Jubliee initially, so I think making her mother Cherry wouldn't be much of a stretch? Why is Bruce terrified of this woman? I'm so very interested

I am getting a very Blanche Devoreau vibe and I am HERE for it! ❤️❤️❤️

Is it bad I think her and Jam would be absolutely fascinating together? Jam studies the art of con under her father, so they've no doubt met. And I can see Gladmane having one of his "exams" for Jam to prove herself as a good con artist so they can work together is for her to con his own daughter. But, as she gets closer to con the mare, she finds the mare she thought was a total bitchy ice queen actually means well and doesn't know better. And she finds she's putting off the date of the con to be pulled off more and more......

I absolutely LOVE this character persona youve made Ive always loved big vivacious female characters but this hits the nail on the cake!!! Question are Trixie and her considered cousins or step siblings? Do they like each other?

Also If you dont like her color pallete may i suggest a more a darker blue siamese-colored face and then really light colors for the hair. (To mirror Daddy Gladmane)

Raizzae

Gorgeous! Love the colors~ ❤

oh boy, what a treasure. She gives off Jo Bennet vibes, with big great danes, big hair and all.

Oooh I like! I wonder if she and Jam have a bit of a rivalry going on? At least on Glitzy's side considering her dad seems oh so eager to "dote" on this skinny twig nothing of a mare from Ponyville and ignores his own daughter. I like her being an ex to Maggie! We really haven't seen much of Maggie's romantic past (though I like to think she hilariously exaggerates her dating history like Blance from Golden Girls, only lesbian style....mostly because she's really tired of girls being slut shamed so FUCK it, y'all wanna gossip? Well BUCKLE UP. Only her true friends know what's truth). Thinking maaaaybe Glitzy isn't quite as over the relationship as Maggie is?

Man those colors you picked for her hair tho, *chef’s kiss* excellent

Wow! I love where you're going with this! I'm a fan of Dolly Parton, and you nailed her look down pat! She practically radiates confidence and country charm. and I also like the direction you're going with her personality, making her more of a 'misguided bully' than a straight up monster. it adds some interesting depths to the morality scale and not having everything be black and white, good and evil. I look forward to seeing where you go with her in the future! :) ps. I also love how you gave her the old southern insult of 'bless yer heart', which if I'm not mistaken basically means 'you mean well, but you're a complete idiot'. like father, like daughter.

lopoddity

You'd be right. ;) Methinks somebody may still have feelings for their ex.....
