Ocellus annoying her pops, as she has dutifully done from almost the minute she hatched

my headcanon goes like this. Ocellus is a "new era" changeling, born shortly after the political  marriage of Queen Chrysalis and Princess Celestia. Due to the more or  less successful integration of her changelings into pony society,  Chrysalis was able to soak up more ambient love to create a new,  healthier, more colorful brood of subjects. 

Chrysalis deliberately created Ocellus with the intention of making the grub her successor, the eventual new Queen of the changelings. But it was evident even from hatching that shy, sweet Ocellus lacked the ferocity and confidence necessary to command a hive. Chrysalis dumped the grub on her listless general, hoping Pharynx could, at the very least, make a decent soldier out of this failed experiment.

He tried his damndest. He failed miserably.

If Thorax was a pain in the ass, Ocellus is that times ten. She's tiny, weak, utterly useless in a fight, and a damned goody-two-hooves to boot. Pharynx has never been shy about letting her know what a complete and total failure she is as a member of his species. At first this bothered Ocellus (drill sergeant bug dad did not help with her shyness), but with Thorax's support, she's come to simply smile in the face of Pharynx's constant griping. She knows he doesn't really mean it. Pharynx insists he really, really does.

It's funny though. Ever since Ocellus became a royal ambassador and went on her own journey with Smolder, Pharynx has been feeling awfully lonely. He thinks about his failure of a grub a lot and hopes she remembers to wear a sweater out.
