Hooffields and McColts (Patreon)

Huck's dear parents, Branch and Hacksaw Hooffield. In the show, they look like this:

Following the end of the McColt/Hooffield feud, the two families began to intermarry, mostly out of convenience, and also to combine their respective farming and building skills. The first to take the leap were young Branch and Hacksaw, meant to lead the two clans into a new age of unity and peace....

Didn't work. Turns out nothing can stop a Hooffield and McColt from feuding. 

These two have a cycle. Argue->Escalate->Feud->Screw like rabbits. And that's why they have so many kids (13 total). The reason Huck is so good at debate is because he grew up in a family that was always fighting and fussing over something. When he was young, he tried to be the peacekeeper between his parents, between his perpetually squabbling siblings. As an adult, he's given up, and left them all to their fighting.

(PS. I realized halfway through this that Branch was looking a lot like Tom Selleck. I tried tweaking the drawings to make this less so, but alas, he only looked more like Tom Selleck.)
