these two were going to be part of an info-illustration i was planning to do on unicorns horns, like the one i did on pegasi wings

buuut i was really frustrated drawing these and i'm pretty unhappy with the final result. Oh well, maybe I'll try again later

the basic idea here is that kirin are more closely related to deer than ponies, and in lieu of a horn they have a single large antler. Mistmane, being a very ancient pony from a faraway land, has a curved spire-like horn rarely seen in modern ponies. I really wish the showrunners hadn't stressed that Mistmane losing her youth= her losing her beauty, that felt oddly mean-spirited to me? Kind of a not-very-positive message to give to the young girls that watch the show. So I'm gonna headcanon that Mistmane used her magic to trade away her youth to revitalize her homeland, not her beauty.
