-a close-up of his protective nictating membranes (they give him spooky ghost eyes, and smoky is a lover of all things intimidating and theatrical)

-Smokescreen was born mute. I got asked a lot how a mute creature would go about doing spywork- and I answered that Smokescreen isn't meant to flirt and banter with enemies so much as he's meant to sneak around, steal, observe, and occasionally pull out the teeth of non-compliant captives. But then I remembered that Queen Chrysalis was seen performing mental magic in the show (when she mind-controls Shining Armor), and I figured Smokescreen could also have that ability. So this is how he communicates, he can telepathically project his "voice" into ponies' heads, and he can also give them a psychic "push" to do what he wants them to do. He's not as strong as Chrysalis, however, and a strong-willed pony can resist the push. He can't directly control ponies, but he can attempt to influence their thoughts and decisions.

ya like the villain guy i made him up in like 2 minutes. He and his goons were planning on kidnapping the foal of some visiting duchess and demanding a ransom, Smokescreen is trying to stop that from happening
