Gabriella's specific breed of griffin shares close similarity to the real world peregrine falcon, making them one of the fastest natural fliers in all Equestria. Their speed is only beaten by pegasi with very powerful magic affiliation, such as Rainbow Dash, whose latent pegasi magic is bound to the elements of wind and lightning. Gabby's speed made her perfectly suited to deliver mail back in Griffonstone.

Like all griffons, Gabby is an apex predator and obligate carnivore, though she tends to feel bad about hunting animals, and prefers to make them into companions and pets. Gabby is a clumsy hunter and tends to get distracted by pretty flowers, butterflies, and occasionally, laser pointer dots.

Gabby was one of the first griffins to befriend Gilda, and is an enthusiastic proponent for Equine-Griffon cultural exchange and cross-species friendship.
