As promised, I've been editing footage taken for my Mary Magdalene series. To provide some background: I became intrigued with the idea of creating art of Mary Magdalene when I came across an image from the 1400s. It was a representation of her, but she was completely covered in hair, or fur.

I've often marveled at how there were so many Mary's mentioned biblically. First there's Mary mother of Christ, she's hands down got the greatest fandom. But all those other Mary's kind of became a mix. Whether she was washing feet, about to be stoned to death, weeping and mourning, or a disciple, or a whore, through time all those women came to be known as the Magdalene.

The legend didn't end with biblical interpretations. She lived on in other tales and legends and art. Mary of Egypt was depicted in art as covered in hair. So great was her grief and misery that her clothing wore thin and fell from her body as she wandered in the wilderness. A merciful god covered her body in fur to hide her shame. We can't have any of those shameful lady parts hanging out while  mentally ill with a broken heart in the desert.
