"The man identified himself as Edwin Abbott" (the store owner who called for Daisy Johnson over the emergency dispatch) -- Edwin Abbott is the author of the 1884 book "Flatland", a story of mathematical fiction about a two dimensional world being visited by a three dimensional being.
