Morgana fought with a sword in many scenes before, first time i can remember is in 1x10 were our main 4 had to defend Merlin's home and fought for it, she was great with a sword and said how she used to beat Arthur when they were young, second time i could remember is in the Lancelot and Guinevere episode where she had to defend herself and Guinevere from the kidnappers and showed great swordsmanship, she is the combination of Arthur's fighting skills and Merlin's magic and somehow she keeps losing which is ridiculous lol

Great reaction! I love this episode. You’re right it does almost feel like a series finale. Maybe it should have been, I don’t know. But there are still some things to cover. But I really enjoy this one, it’s pacey, action packed, funny and pays off a good number of plot points of the season. Great directing/cinematography too. And Merlin feels particularly grown up in this episode - in killing Agravaine (I loved your reaction to that haha) and being so wise with Arthur. Also just a couple of your questions answered/ things for you to know - Agravaine knew Merlin was Emrys because 1. Emrys has to be a sorcerer and 2. He has to be within Camelot and close to Arthur, because of all the info he knows and interfering he does. Also yes Merlin did help Arthur take the sword from the stone, as when he put it in there he fused it in with magic. It was all part of his plan, to tell Arthur some grandiose tale about true kings being able to pull the sword out and then get him to pull it out! I actually love this take on the classic tale of the sword and the stone, that the whole thing is basically made up and orchestrated by Merlin! That’s a nice little twist on the usual telling of it. Also the couple of smugglers introduced themselves as Tristan and Isolde, which are the names of two lovers part of classic tragic legend. There have been lots of versions of the story and this is Merlin’s! Also totally understand your feelings about the monarchy, I feel the exact same way, especially living in England whilst the coronation was happening. Next season is interesting. I will be curious to see your reactions to it for sure.. I have a feeling I can guess some of them already.
