Tom and Mary's friendship is such a joy. After Sybil, she was really the first one of the family to give him the time of day and hear him out (Edith did a bit, too, but Sybil didn't talk to her about it like she did Mary), to recognize that he had value, and helped smooth over the transition. I love that the other side of it is coming into play now, where Tom is going to bat for her because he knows she has a lot to offer and should be taken seriously. Now they also have that sad bond of losing their beloved spouse at a young age and having a baby to take care of. It's arguably the throughline of the show that I love the most. The less said of Edna and Nanny West the better -_-

SO glad they did the time jump. After the raw grief of losing Sybil I could not have been able to handle a repeat so soon. I don't understand why Mrs. Hughes couldn't have told the truth about Edna. Tom didn't do anything wrong! She could have easily told Cora that Edna had behaved inappropriately with Tom and made him uncomfortable and that would have been the end of it. Little nitpick. Crawley is the family name but Grantham is the title. So it's Robert Crawley, Lord Grantham. Cora Crawley, Lady Grantham. The daughters don't use Grantham, although Mary would have if Matthew had become the Earl of Grantham. Also, Isobel isn't a lady. She's Mrs. Crawley rather than Lady Isobel. ;)
