Yeah I don't agree that Sam made some changes this season because it actually made him seem like less of himself if that makes sense. Like the whole believing God was behind his visions was super silly to me, to then move on to his Lucifer cage plan without his brother or their angel buddy because of a bs timer on it all, "going with God's plan" vs #TFW, respecting each other's choices when all he has done is make choices only to clue in Dean later and act like Dean is being the selfish one (they obviously didn't learn talking it out from the faux therapy with Chuck and Lucy even while they pushed for it), then acting like he had to make the stand for his brother giving up when that's all he did was fall into Dean's footsteps by taking the mark, telling him to lock him up, etc. HELLO RINSE/REPEAT! Sam is so much smarter than all that but since season 8, especially, both of the boys have been off. Dean was dumbed down as well especially with the Amara stuff that makes NO SENSE mostly but Sam was so wildly out of character to me that the buzz of this episode's action shifted a second watch through. Bugs the hell out of me!

Tbf Cain didn't do anything to able, lucifer was talking to able & was going to make him his pet (I'm assuming that meant lucifer wanted to possess able to fight Michael, maybe Cain & able were the first fitting vessels) so Cain offered a deal, able's soul in heaven for his own soul in hell & lucifer accepted, similar to dean's demon deal treading his own soul to bring Sam back in season 2's finale & lucifer didn't want to fight Michael, he begged Michael not to fight but Michael was so desperate to please his father (cough dean cough), i loooove that dean went to get Crowley & Sam went to get Rowena, dean & Crowley frienemy/flirty relationship is similar to Sam & Rowena's, i guess each macleod chose a Winchester lol, i also loved the god/Rowena flirting in this coz of Rob & Ruth 🥰, about the dean trying to kill amara thing, i don't get how it didn't work because he didn't "want it to work" part, that's not how angel blades work, i think what they're trying to say is that he must've known something as simple as an angel blade wouldn't work on something like Amara, even amara said then "you must've known this wouldn't work" so i believe what they mean is that he took a shot at her coz he knew it wouldn't work but if it truly comes down to killing her he wouldn't be able to, so he's desperate for someone else to kill her coz he can't & that's why he was pushing the others to kill her, out of guilt that he can't do it himself, tbf to you the show itself calls it codependency, you didn't come up with it lol, i like that dean let Sam make his own choice here even if it's terrible, love to see a hint of growth especially from dean coz i believe Sam can do it, i love that cas was the one to convince the angels, my heart broke when he said that every minute lucifer is possessing him is a torture & that it's burning through his vessel 😭, season 4 cas wouldn't care about that vessel but now after becoming a human for a while & experiencing physical pain & pleasure, it's a part of him, he talks about his "vessel" as we talk about our bodies, re the conversation in the comments about romantic relationships not being the only happy ending i definitely agree as someone who doesn't care for romance irl, definitely doesn't have a plan to have what society would call a "normal life" However i think there's nothing wrong with people craving it & they shouldn't be shunned for it! I really hate that Sam was made a villain for craving a safer loving life, it was treated as a crime he committed by both his father & his brother, they both called it "giving up on his family" when it doesn't have to be either or, it's not family vs romance, it's not a fight, most people are able to have both, i don't understand why this has to be black & white, sam didnt choose to leave amilia, he was giving an ultimatum & he give the same ultimatum to dean with benny, that can't be healthy, re dean feeling responsable about his romantic partners, dean feels responsable for everyone!! Romantic partner or not, he feels responsable for Sam, he feels responsable for Kevin, for charlie etc.. , he felt guilt coz jo died saving him not because she was a romantic partner, so i don't see a romantic partner as any different especially if they were already in the life & already fighting along dean's side, so i don't believe romantic relationship is the happy ending, i think therapy is! In Sam & dean's case but part of that therapy could be expanding their circle a bit in which way they want even if it means letting more people in & having more to lose, it's a risk we all have to take, great reaction
