Love the parallels to the mark of Cain but this ep also feels inspired by the movie It Follows, where a creature that can shift shapes and is passed on to people threw sex, calmly and slowly stalks after people it’ll tear apart.

Don’t be hard on yourself, Shelly. You remember episodes and storylines very well and shouldn’t feel bad about not remembering the episode was “my heart will go on” where Dean won the rock paper scissors game. Definitely takes re-watching the show a few times to get better remembering all the little things. Also don’t feel bad about not particularly liking this episode. It’s not one that’s viewed all that highly in the fandom. Looking forward to the next one though.

I enjoyed this episode better than expected, dunno why but it was good to see it again. Not to mention the " it's cloaked in shame" and yeah yeah, I get what they're saying but you know... subtext

I think it's safe to say no one would be alone in not loving this episode. --- Imo, some of the shot framing (clacky-clacky-keyboard?), editing (dialogue in single wide close-ups?), and MOTW trappings (sweethearts on a Facebook banner? ….without irony?) feel clumsy on the wrong side of ridiculous – cause I love ridiculous. ---- *However,* I can peer around that stuff, and, in so doing, enjoy a few really lovely character moments. Jensen and Jared elevated the whole darn thing, making meals of every morsel: a rock, paper, scissors; a martyr smooch; a newbie trunk gander. 😊 I'm on board, jet skiing past all the rest... to get to the next episode. 😜

2022-12-31 17:51:57 So many interesting things in this episode, remember what Mildred said exactly, she didn't just say follow your heart, she said "i know when someone is pining for someone else, don't try to hide it, follow your heart", pining screams romantic love to me so i didn't take it as family love, this episode even assured me more that Mildred's words weren't about amara, coz dean here said that when he's away from amara all he wants to do is kill her, he's not pining for her, he only feels her hold on him when she's physically near him, so he's never pining for amara & like he said here it's not love, it's something that's forced upon him, so i personally don't think Mildred's words are about amara or his brotherly love for Sam, that only leaves one option, i don't think the heart theme in this season is about amara or Sam either but that's just my interpretation, i am sure many would disagree, the qareen said to dean "i can feel the love you feel but it's clocked in shame" & we learn in the following scene that the amara thing isn't love, so...... It's also very noticeable that at the beginning of the episode when we see dean with the hecky that he's walking weird, why can't you walk properly, dean? Who were you with last night & what did you do exactly? I need answers!! An okay episode but very interesting stuff came out of it

I love how the writers were able to get away with subtext readings, regardless of who you shipped Dean with, in the same line of dialog. And even those who were strictly GA were included. It always just depended on what particular lens you saw that reading through. Sometimes things are more obvious than others, but I do appreciate the show's inclusivity in that regard. I always thought that's why they started paralleling Sam and Cass' storylines. It made things easier and allowed everyone to have a bone thrown their way once in a while. Having said that, I appreciate your thoughts on the through line of S11. After the complications in 8-10 this will be a cake walk...lol. Some brilliant and beautiful episodes are yet to come as well.
