Bobby was also with that monster that Lovecraft set free from purgatory (forgot her name) but yeah, total legend.

You are going to love the next episode.

This was a pretty good episode, because of Bobby. We learn more about ghosts though, so that is good too. I killer ghost didn't kill the fancy lady the same way he killed the other guy. He burned her bones, but he absorbed the energy of the other fellow. Don't know why he did it that way with her when he could have just absorbed her, unless he didn't want to risk being around Sam and Dean while doing so. About Dean and the season 2 premier episode. I've always felt that Dean would have gone with the Reaper, given how he feels about these things. I don't think he'd have been able to accept being a ghost. Something they hunt. Even though he would not have wanted to leave John and Sam, he wouldn't have become a ghost. He likely would have been connected to Baby, so he'd at least be able to stay around them, but he'd still be a ghost. I don't think he'd be able to accept that.

Jim Beaver's return to Supernatural was a well-kept secret. Starting from the last episode, "Party on Garth" to this one, a lot of effort was maintained to continue the secret. From Supernatural The Official Companion S7: Director Tim Andrew: "A lot of times there'll be fans who know where we're filming and they'll be at the location wanting to get photographs and autographs. As we didn't want to give away that Jim Beaver was back, when we were breaking for lunch, for instance, we had to make sure there was a van really close by that we could put him in without people seeing him, so we could whisk him off to base camp. and first, he put on a hat or a coat with a hood on it. Bobby's such an important character, so bringing him back was a big deal."

On Jim's part, he pretended to have an ongoing movie project in the Vancouver area (where the show films) to throw fans of the show off the scent of his surprise return. “They didn’t really say anything to me other than ‘Keep it quiet,'” he says. “But I knew I was going to get spotted. I was going to go to the grocery store and someone was going to say that I was here and [assume] I’m coming back to life. So I needed a cover story and made up this story about an abominable snowman movie that I was shooting an hour out of Vancouver. And it turned into something really fun.” Fun and very realistic. After his ultimately temporary departure and before his return, he’d tweet photos, and post updates via Facebook. “If you go back and look at some of those things in retrospect, you’ll get an idea of just how much fun I was having.” The effort was worth it. If we look at his end of March 2012 twitter feeds, the daily tweets of the fake filming activities of that abominable snowman movie crossposted to his facebook are still there.

This season focused in on a lot more things such as Bobby and his death and the effect that had on the boys. Dean's inner struggles and struggling with alcohol and then Sam's mental state and Lucifer tormenting him aswell as the whole Cas situation and his return and then you have the leviathans and they play a huge part in the final stretch of episodes. This season was a lot more focused in on Dean and Sam as characters and there serious struggle rather than leviathans leviathans leviathans but they gave enough to keep them mysterious and interesting and again the final stretch of episodes really delve into the leviathans and Dick Roman.

This is kind of a middle of the road episode for me. I like it, but it's not a favorite for me. Still, it's always great to get a Bobby centric episode, and I enjoyed watching Jamie Luner guest star as Annie here. Not sure if you're old enough to remember her from the show Just theTen of Us (late 80s/early 90s loose spin-off of Growing Pains).
