This is such a great episode! Glad you enjoyed it so much! Jefferson Starship started out as Jefferson Airplane in the 70s, where they made pretty great rock music. Then in the 80s they morphed into Jefferson Starship, and eventually just Starship. Their 80s music was much cheesier than their original music as Jefferson Airplane, which is probably why Dean said what he did about them and named the new creatures after them.

When they are in the diner and Dean tells Cas that without his powers, he’s just a baby in a trench coat, Misha actually forgot his next line and looks out the window. Jared noticed he wasn’t saying anything and decided to improvise by whispering to Jensen “I think you hurt his feelings” It must’ve been funnier than what was originally written since they decided to keep it in the episode. I love that they know their characters so well and when one of them improvises, the others can play off of it and not ruin the take.
