Good stuff! I waited very eagerly to see your reaction to this, because it's one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, seriously. Of course, my interest in parallel universes has to do with it as well, but I think also from a storytelling perspective, and acting, the confusion/mystery, atmosphere, everything combined, it absolutely succeeds. Of course one can find flaws about many things when it comes to stories about different dimensions, like especially the ending of the episode, but I am fine with it because the rest of the story is great. I also have to say that you turned out to be fantastic reactors, especially compared to some others, as I highly enjoy your commentary both before the episode starts as well as throughout the episode, and then at the end. With some reactors it's literally "we start now", then two or three sentences throughout the whole episode, and then "ok this was cool, see you next time." So thank you for making quality content. It is also clearly evident that you both greatly enjoy the show. Fun fact: the opening of this episode (before the opening credits start), everything is shown mirrored, but it's hard to notice. If you look at Doggett's face it is somewhat noticable. Reyes a little bit too. But Brad, not so much, if at all. Also a very nice touch, in another "blink and you'll miss it" moment, is when Doggett follows Lukesh, at once point, where we don't know he's already crossed into the other world, you can see that the police cars behind him have disappeared, since technically they're "behind" the portal Doggett was pulled into. Anyway... thoroughly enjoyable reaction video. Keep watching and enjoy the ride. Stay safe... peace! :)

This was a great episode and an absolute favorite of mine. I pretty much enjoy this season, it's definately not the worst in my opinion. And maybe it's just me, but I think this season has the most attractive Gillian Anderson. I love her hair and her clothing this season. And I can assure you, it was not that the creators thought Gillian Anderson couldn't lead the show, they also didn't think that season 8 didn't do well. Season 8 had great ratings and critics. And that motivated them to move on. They just weren't aware of the shows cancellation after season 9 (not yet), all they knew was, that Gillian Anderson would not be available for a tenth season (she refused to sign another contract, not because of money but she was done), so they wanted to give the fans a chance to slowly get used to a next generation of X Files, the Doggett and Reyes generation. And that's why I think, that they did everything well under those circumstances. They wanted a slow transition into a new X Files (which never came to happen), and I think they would have written things differently, if they knew what was coming. (I don't see how this could be spoilers at this point. I think this season is more enjoyable, if you know why they did what they did. And you already see yourselves what they did. It makes it more appreciable. And I don't want you to assume, that they were trying to cancel Anderson, that's not the case at all.) There were a lot of never realized plans, how to continue the franchise. One plan was to continue the TV show with Doggett and Reyes, bringing back Duchovny and Anderson for X-Files movies every 5 years. Because both of them said, they would be available for that, just not for a weekly tv show.

Never thought about it that way but ugh if it were Scully and Mulder that would've really hit so much harder! Still, good episode. I don't think I ever really watched season 9, it's been fun watching along with you guys!
