I do still enjoy the show, but I hear you on the being a little too much real life. And this episode was extra disturbing. I did love that Zendaya was what "Spider-Man" loved most.

Aah so glad you're feeling better Shelley, but this is not an episode to watch if you're queasy! It's a really tough watch. Teknight and Ashley torturing Hughie, Butcher torturing Samir (and Kessler talking about the people they tortured together). On the positive side, it's great to see the development of A-Train's redemption arc and his relationship with MM. And Sage's little anecdote about her grandmother might be specially crafted for Neuman but I think there's some truth in there about how she sees the world and why she's playing these games with it.

I am of the feeling that the "real world" and the world of the show are even less removed from one another than it might seem. What else is being ultra wealthy (or at least having the illusion of wealth) but a superpower, compared to us mere mortals? Undeserved and unearned power that is used against those who don't have it is right out of the rich guy playbook - and wrap yourself up in the flag and white nationalism and get cheered by the people who dream one day of having the same power and lack of accountability. I continue to support the show and get people into watching it BECAUSE it occasionally catches those on the right in such a way that they can actually see their own reflection for a moment. The more "popular" it is the more the right wing folks end up watching it, and since they don't listen to facts, maybe this is the spoonful of dogcrap that helps their medicine go down. Additionally, while it is not fun, we also see people who are HEROES that are speaking truth to the corrupt status quo. Most are just ordinary people who are willing to do what it takes to do the right thing, and we need more of that right now, IMHO... but yes, not particularly "fun" to watch.
