In another timeline, Kuvira's soft coup resulted in the depowering of the Earth Kingdom's monarchy but did not lead to the formation of the ill-fated, despotic Earth Empire thanks to a diplomatic intervention by the Avatar and the Beifong family. Instead, an Earth Federation of democratic states, led by the metalbending powerhouse of Zaofu, emerged over the following several months. The new central government would usher in a lasting peace and an era of prosperity which restored the nation to its pre-Hundred Year War glory.

On the night of the first general election in the new Earth nation's history, Korra– longing for companionship after Team Avatar's disbandment– hesitantly agreed to Suyin Beifong's suggestion of meeting with a fit young man of the Metal Clan whom Kuvira had personally trained but could not convince to join her rebel faction. A long night of drinking, sparring, and heartfelt conversation later, the Avatar was smitten. More than one servant stumbled across the terrifying scene of the energetic pair wrecking the furniture and cracking the very walls with their rough, passionate lovemaking inside the royal palace guest room they'd commandeered. When more caretakers arrived in the morning, several questioned whether or not a badgermole had broken into the palace during the festivities. 

Ten months later the Avatar and her fiancé were already prepared to welcome their first child, a hard-headed baby boy named Wan. With rambunctious fraternal twins they'd call Aang and Toph arriving over the next few years as well, the Avatar's manor in Republic City became a locus for bending-infused family chaos, the shockwaves of which could sometimes be felt from the inner city streets. What never failed to quickly bring her husband and young kids in line, however, was a heavily pregnant Korra waking up from her frequent naps, ready to tear the foundation from the earth and part the seas themselves unless someone could fetch a large platter of moo-sow pork buns for her to devour.

Safe to say this is the biggest project I've done yet for a monthly poll winner. And the longest short story to go with it, too. I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed working on it all! :)
