Here's the recording of the process of the recent character art commission (step by step as well as a closer look at the final result can be seen in the previous post)! You can see how it took me some time to figure out what colors to use and in what order. I knew I wanted the color scheme to somehow indicate a romantic setting with an 80s vibe, and purple, pink and turquoise sounded like a fitting palette for that purpose. I ended up making a few different versions, and it was my lovely client who came up with the gradient order for the background. :) This is why I love client work, as it opens my eyes to options I would have otherwise easily overlooked.

I haven’t finished watching but I love these so much! I actually started doing full Speedpaint like this on my own patreon, it’s so insightful to your process!! My biggest problem area is usually background, trying to create something that doesn’t overshadow the characters or stand out too much (unless if it’s like a scene piece, but I mean moreso the “simple” backyrounds) but still compliments the vibe of the piece— you do an amazing job at it!! Love your work so much 🥺😭
