Back many eons ago, Vega was far greater than the most desirable dancer at an elephant themed night club, she was the creator and ruler over her own civilisation.

Every week she would take to the river to bathe in front of the people, her magic would also bring life to the water she soaked in, which gave them clean water and bountiful harvests. 

The great and benevolent Vega would allow her children to bathe with her, come to her for help, feed from her and in some cases offer themselves to "return to the almighty mother" once they had reached the end of their lifespan.
