he's always been a driven guy, with a clear objective... and when he was put in charge of the PROJECT PRIME all he tried to do was to destroy it.

but after he realized Aden was almost impossible to kill, he realized he needed to use the project to move his own project forward, to find a new objective... so he "left", but he's just been directing everything with some distance, giving orders meanwhile he was working again in his true project.
