I also wanted a make a sligly different design for Nova at this time, like she got a little shorter hair here, and she's just wearing an officer uniform instead of her family armor.

I had so much trouble finding ways to make this story and trying to make it as short as possible... I mean, like just including the essential things so the story works, I got tempted to do more, I mean, to just write a few more scenes, but part of the challenge was to write a short, but effective story for the Nova series.

I got to say, I've gotten a little better at this with time, part of this was to enhance my writing skills before continue the main series, Nova is a very long story, not as much as Derideal, but you know... it could have been, so far my calculations position XEN to be at least 50% shorter than Derideal, not super long, but long enough to keep me busy for years.
