The previous set of pages were designed to mean something in conjunction, a little setup for different ideas I had.

Orozco offers water to Ivory, a gesture of friendship... she's offering something for free to her.

  • this was supposed to gain her trust faster, make her less suspicious. I guess readers would think the opposite, see it as something very suspicious in return. Orozco is at first faking a very friendly smile, bigger smile than normal, after that... she start to change her expression to her more usual calmed and observant way... but I also want you to notice she isn't smiling even after the things she's doing are making effect.
  • Ivory drinks it, relax herself and Orozco ask some thing she wanted to know... and when the moment comes, she decides to tell Ivory "the truth" about Alpha.
  • Ivory drops the glass, she's scared and surprised, there are several implications about what Orozco said... that she just drop the glass, water spills. Orozco comments and relate the glass with emotions, it was something I was thinking about and also wanted to represent visually, this was another reason why she gives a glass of water.
  • Ivory is now completely disarmed, she's scared for Alpha, but also feeling guilty of keeping secrets, since she's the one who found the information and gave it to him... Orozco doesn't even need to be told this, she pretty much confirmed it with the reactions, and was probably suspecting it all along.

Maybe this whole scene ande setup was a little pretentious of me, but I had it in my head and wanted to do something that could convey  some symbolism and reflect something important for Derideal, which are emotions... Orozco sometimes mention about xenos being "too similar to humans" and she's complained a few times about the xeno reactions, basically... xenos just have the same feelings and emotions humans have, and this is bothersome.

in graphic aspect,

I tried to draw a glass of water hahah, idk how much sucessful I was, but I think it delivers the idea.
I'm also doubtful about the proportion between Orozco's face and Ivory's head, but meh, I decided to keep it as it was, I mostly care about the idea being easy to understand in the panel, draw the hand bigger would make me also reduce Ivory's face size and that's what I wanted to keep the focus more.
