anyway, they're protected at some degree by this guy's tech against those drones.

in the legacy version, and here too, he's the only character capable of bypassing most of the Survival Function and Consortium security measures, and even affecting FOE equipment and finding their vulnerabilities. it's never really explained, but seen a few times during the comic itself, if you pay close attention to it, he's the only character capable of doing some deus ex machina things, like shutting down FOE weaponry for a while, or even make a VWALLY robot going mad.
