Derideal 5-39 WIP+BLOG (Patreon)

I'm not sure how much my desire to rescue bits of the original comic affected the way this story was made. this page imitate how Aden saw "Laura" as he was falling unconscious, in this bit, he wakes up listening to her calling him, it's not exactly the same, but I made it just to imitate a bit that feeling.

I got to accept at this time that the remake it isn't exactly perfect, and was made very differently as how the original was made.... the original was organic, it evolved as I was coming up with it, mistakes and all that, which I think make it very honest, still this remake sort of tells the same thing, with more backstory bits for the rest of the characters and the purpose of the experiment, something that was kinda out in the original, specially for C. Wally and doctor Orozco, who plays a bigger role in Derideal part 2.

as making this new version I had so many doubts, and started making it bits by bits, as scenes came to mind, as things I wanted to tell came to be... as a result I got a lot of scenes that happen during the story, that I can change, cut, move and position differently to tell the same story, and the order might affect how logical the events chain themselves, but also which elements readers will know first.

The only bits that are really continuous is episode 5, which was more clear in my head what I wanted, also the dream-sequences, which are much more longer in this version and the "prelude" dream in legacy is spread across several dream sequences as the full remake goes on.

I've learned a lot with the years making this comic, then got to learn a lot making XEN too, and later withTHE VOID ep 4-5, every script made the other a little better.

mistakes I made with Derideal were fixed in the XEN script, and the mistakes in XEN were fixed in THE VOID, it's something that bothers me a lot with my stories, after a while I read it and question everything, I would like to make them again, it's very difficult to settle... but I got to continue Derideal, this remake with the good and the bad sides, will remain as the canon thing.

 all I'll do after it's done is maybe sorting out the story a little differently, but that will require me to analyze and divide it again in scenes, a pain to make, but I think it will be nice for me to do it and finally let it rest.

I'm also planning some extra pages after this end, just a few to complement more the story... it will be made also later, probably a revised version of the story, which I hope to get compiled and released sometime in the future.


PS. there are some silly bits in the comic, things that I consdier "hints" that might not actually be or just be too difficult to pay attention, for example in previous pages there's a very similar image of Laura, but from the "dream" sequence, and she got longer hair, because that's how Aden knows her, then in this part it's the real memory, from what he just saw. I enjoy making it a little ambiguous... but I bet it makes it confusing for some readers.
