You can find the Patron-only watermark-free version of this map, which includes night variants and tiles/tokens for customizing the scene to your liking, here, or you can buy it from Ko-Fi, here.

The map brought you here, and though you know the chest is likely just beneath your feet, you know not what it contains, or what might guard it.

As your shovel bites into the sand, something stirs - a bony hand claws at your ankle from below.

As you attempt to wrestle yourself free of its grasp, you realize it's not alone - skeletons bearing rust-rotted arms begin to clamber to their feet around you.

Inspired by many hours spent playing Sea of Thieves, I wanted to provide a phased version of this battle map that would allow players to take an action to progress through each phase of the dig. Perhaps the dead keep coming until the chest is unearthed and opened?

Given that I had skeletons in mind for this map, I feel I should probably remind my Patrons that you can get top-down tokens for free from Forgotten Adventures, the folk who make the assets I use for my maps, from their live gallery here. They have a greater variety available to their Patrons and supporters of course, but the skeleton adversaries pack is perfectly suited to the encounter I've described here!

I've provided tokens for each phase of the map to make swapping between them a little easier, and a tile for the firepit (as light sources don't work very well when exporting with transparent backgrounds in Dungeondraft). I've also provided a version of the treasure chest containing gold coins, and a version containing skulls, just in case you like to mess with your players a little bit every once in a while.

I thought that this seaside map would be quite fitting given the circumstances - I'm going to be taking a couple of days off from concentrated map-making, and while I have no beach to avail of, I'm certainly going to try my best to rest and recover from the sheer chaos of the last month. But I shall be back very soon!

My maps are made with assets from Forgotten Adventures and AoA (bolstered with assets of my own making here and there), and they usually come with day/night, edited/unedited, and light/lightless variants, plus JPEGs, WebPs with transparent backgrounds, and UVTT (DD2VTT) files for Foundry VTT if the map features buildings or interiors.
