Making these Final Fantasy videos has required a surprising amount of sprite work! Though there are an abundance of fan-made sprite sheets for these games already available on the internet, I found those sheets often contained inconsistencies. Different approaches to outlining, inconsistent color palettes, sometimes even outright inaccurate (or completely missing) poses.

So I've spent quite a few hours assembling and editing these games' player character sprites; getting them isolated and sized for use in the videos, correcting inaccuracies, re-coloring all of them to ensure the palette is consistent... just a bunch of fiddly work. And having all that effort only be for the benefit of a few YouTube videos seems like a waste, so I figure - as thanks for all your support - why not let you folks have them?

Here's a zip file which contains all the player character sprites from Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy III.

---> Download the files here! <---

Inside, you'll find a directory with .pngs of all the individual sprites, as well as the .psd files I worked from (in case you want to make your own changes or export them at a different size).

Enjoy! Thanks so much for supporting this series, as well as for your patience as I work on these videos.

This is great! I hope you'll continue this trend throughout the SNES era as well - I've been dipping my toe into the waters of pixel art and these sheets will make for incredible reference material.

I currently plan to! I'm guessing I won't need to do nearly as heavy editing on those, but I'll still be trying to get them compiled into a nice resizable and exportable file directory.

Thanks for sharing these! It's nice to study the subtle differences in frames up close. I'm not an animator, but I've played with animation programming tools in Unreal and in Microsoft's XNA for fun and hobby projects.
