10 years ago, Notch from Minecraft would release updates for Minecraft in a very unique way, Secret Friday Updates. This method of disseminating new game content provided the Minecraft community with an adventure to figure out how and what new things have been added. The idea of making a game in a similar fashion stuck with me for a long time. Until now.
For the majority of people in The Backrooms that don't escape, the ones whose only way out is going further in, how would they survive? Would they survive? What if they ran into other survivors and cooperated to reach other levels and survival settlements? What if they created economies around food, items, and almond water? My next game sets out to implement answer these questions. Random infinite level generation, attention to detail, and fresh ideas for survival horror are already being implemented. Coupled with simple random encounter multiplayer networking, and you got a soft-MMO like survival horror. Offline play also allowed.
However, I won't tell you how to survive! You'll have to figure out yourself or talk with other people in-game (or in the Discord) how to escape (or in rare instances defeat) challenges inside the labyrinthine abyss of The Backrooms.
Patreon benefits will be the same as Viva's,
$1=access to half of developer posts
$2=access to all developer posts
$5=access to the early betas
Hope you stay tuned!
And hey if you aren't interested and were a previous Viva supporter, thank you for your support! OpenViva is a collection of other Discord users who want to pick up where I left off, specifically they are doing fixes and additions to v0.75 and v0.9. They are on Discord. [Visit Them Here]
