A monthly commission for a a Commander. I enjoyed their description of these events that led up to this scene so much that I'm posting the whole thing here;

"OK lets say Mafia in suits. They were ordered by their boss to capture her and bring her in for interrogation. If they don't bring her alive, they will be executed. Yes she's staying at a hotel. They are armed with 9 mm handguns with silencers. Lara is about to go to sleep. They think she's asleep. The plan was to chloroform her and take her quietly. Lights are off in the room there's only some moonlight and a nightlight. They try to quietly shoot the door lock to her room, but she hears the silencers and the lock breaking and her training kicks in. She leaps out of bed, grabs her .45 colt handgun and three extra magazines that she keeps by her bedside, runs towards the balcony. Then, I am not sure maybe she has time to grab her sandals or shoes from the balcony or maybe not. Anyways, the first mafia man opens the door, sees her just as she is about get off the balcony and hop onto the emergency stairs, which are attached to the balcony or nearby. Perhaps like this: pinterest.ca/pin/99642210476834521 or this pinterest.ca/pin/766104586592968757 Since its a capture mission, the mafia man starts shooting at her leg from the hotel room door. One of the bullets will hit her either in the thigh or calf. Anyways, she soldiers on. She gets on the emergency stairs and bolts downstairs into the back alley. The men will chase her. Due to her leg injury, the blood trail makes her easy to track. Also, I assume she's limping from the leg injury and pain so she can't outrun them. So she is forced to defend herself. She takes cover behind a garbage container and shoots at them. Her gun is not silenced so now people in the area will notice. Things will start to get out of control for the mafia men. So the mafia men's best bet is to try to incapacitate her with a shot or two, then hope she doesn't die and bring her back alive to the boss. The lead mafia man orders his partner to shoot back at her while avoiding the head and neck and heart area. However, Lara's ambush takes them by surprise. Since she's a good shot she quickly knocks out the partner with 2 shots to the torso. He radios the situation to the mafia before dying.  Now remains the leader who is bigger, stronger, and more experienced mafia man. He takes cover behind something such as a car or a corner. He returns fire hitting Lara in the lung. Lara feels hurt, and has some difficulty breathing so she sits down with her back against the container. The mafia man thinks this is his best chance to capture her as time is ticking, so he runs towards her while firing cover fire towards her. Lara, regains her composure, calmly sticks out the gun from the side of the container, aims, and hits him with shots to the torso. The mafia man still manages to fight on, and gets to concealment behind garbage bags or something. However, he is in trouble as Lara has the better cover and stronger rounds. So Lara reloads, and shoots a hail of bullets into the garbage bags. Basically, he is in a kill zone, so when she reloads again and comes sticks her gun again, he pops out his head and hands to try to shoot her again. Lara shoots at his body. The bullets go through the garbage bags into his body. He takes another 3 shots and drops dead. Lara ends up stuck behind the container, coughing blood, trying to breathe, trying to pressure the chest wound. She can only hope help will arrive before more mafia, and that she will survive her injuries."

Thank you for sharing the commissioner’s thought process behind this lovely request. It really helps set the tone to your work

I'm glad you liked that! If it's something everyone enjoys I'd like to do it more often.

This is a pretty engaging description. Regularly, Lara Croft would dispose of the bad guys with ease. But in your reality, I feel like she's more liable to bleed out unceremouniously in a back alley.
