As the thief began her escape, Emma and Angelique pointed their guns at her, ready to fire. Poor Masumi, who had gotten more than she bargained for on a trainee mission, drew her weapons also but pointed them in no particular direction. She thought they were being ambushed. The bystanders in the area became startled by the commotion.

Angelique and Emma opened fire on the thief, but with her superb acrobatics the girl was able to avoid the onslaught of bullets. The gorgeous brunette beside her, however, wasn't as fortunate.

"SHIT", shouted Angelique, though her anger was entirely due to having missed her target, and nothing to do with the fact that she'd just wasted an innocent civilian. The lightsaber was far more valuable than the life of some commoner trash, she didn't have time to worry about that.

Masumi, confused and panicked, opened fire on the first thing she saw. Her aim was perfect but it was the wrong target, just a random party girl on the street corner. "Masumi, not her, HER!" shouted Emma, pointing at the thief who was now getting away from them.

The EGs continued to give chase. Emma and Angelique paid no mind to the two bystanders that had just been gunned down. The trainee Masumi, however, was a bit shaken up but Emma put her mind at ease.

"Relax kid, civilians get killed sometimes, that's life in the big city. This is good for your training. Stay focused!"

Meanwhile, the thief rolled safely underneath a doorway.

By the time the EGs rolled underneath the doorway, the thief was not in sight.  Angelique split from the other two.

Got her cornered now, Angelique thought. There was after all, only one way out of the building. She still couldn't quite understand how she'd allowed some petty thief to run off with her lightsaber.

Angelique had made one major miscalculation, however. The mystery girl was no thief at all, she was a hitwoman from the asteroid belt, or "Belters" as they called them. And out in the Belt, there had recently been a high bounty put on Angelique's head.

Emma's comments may have sounded harsh, but she was right. This was life in the big city, and Imperials didn't place a high value on the lives of their citizens. At least, not the type of citizens that hung out on these street corners.
