Magical Patrons,

Some of you may remember back in September of 2020 we did a Patrons Group Shelf Portrait  comprised of some of our favourite books. There's something magical about a visual representation of this community and it's grown and shifted in ways I'd love to capture.

During out Patrons pre-stream hangout on discord, I asked about making a collaborative 'zine filled with ephemera from each of you! If a zine is a new concept for you, I can heartily recommend the book  Whatcha Mean, What's a Zine?  or this video flip through but the upshot is a self-published mini-magazine that contains collaged poetry, images, and other visuals, usually collaged together and inexpensively reproduced for small scale distribution.

If this sounds like fun, here's what I need from you:

Choose one or two things to be your piece of "ephemera". It can be a photo, a small drawing, a map, short song lyrics or quotes, a line or two from your favourite book or a close up of your favourite sweater.

Drop the image or text in this folder  before June 1st.

Think small simple images or short text. Zines are often published with photocopying so the images may be blurred, cropped or layered together. Remember they may be edited so we can all "fit"!

I'll be collaging the images and text together to make a Patrons Portrait in zine form! If you'd like to see more examples of Zines, we'll be playing around with them on stream this afternoon Friday May 19th at noon est .

Thank you Patrons, for being the kind of community that makes these projects possible. Creating for you and with you is some of my most joyful work and I can't wait to dream up a zine with you all!

Happy collecting,

B

Does it count as ephemera is it's around 30 years old? Well noise.png is some old, quick digital art I made in the 90s.

Brenda, I dropped something into the folder yesterday, but added more things than I probably should. Maybe the Kewl-Bird or the portrait drawing coul be my ephemeras? Or the Aardvark perhaps, if you prefer something with more colors? The pencils and the piano were uploaded by me too, but just ignore them, at least the pencils. The piano could work, I uploaded it because I’m also a bit into composing music. So that could certainly be representative of me too.
