The world is bananas and I require soothing. Seriously though, I don't know about you but I'm trying to balancing staying informed with ending up under my bed and drawing has always been a good coping tool for me. Getting into a sketchbook can be tough though so let's talk about how to do it!

I wanted to share this with the Patreon fam first because it's one of my favourite ways to get myself drawing while also grounding and calming at the same time. Meditating spirals are a super powerful way to get your hand moving on a page without worrying about the final product. Give it a try if you're feeling maxed out. It helps me to feel more grounded so I wanted to share.

I've always felt so grateful for the community here on Patreon, but especially now during some pretty uncertain times for creatives, I wanted to say an extra heart-squeeze thank you to you all for supporting the work I do. Now more than ever, it means so much to me. I hope you're all staying safe and finding some calm in the wild world we're in right now.

Be well wonderful folks. Thanks for being here.

Meditating Spirals: Drawing for the Apocalypse

Well this is one of the craziest times I think I've ever lived through yeah? My first time practicing social distancing that's for sure. I wanted to share a really helpful exercise that I use in a lot of my drawing classes and warm ups. It's based off the work of Lynda Barry who has some of the most beautiful approaches to drawing I've ever encountered. If you're feeling stressed or anxious, give this one a try. Now more than ever, I wanted to say a huge thanks to the beautiful supporters on Patreon who make these videos possible and who are an incredible source of support during some pretty uncertain times for creatives. If you like the content I put out, consider supporting me on Patreon and get monthly art-goodies by mail, comics, tutorials, early access to videos and more. It's a wonderful little community and I'm so very grateful for it. Check it out: https://www.patreon.com/artinjest All music is from Epidemic Sound
