Questions for BIG FISHES! Please read! (Patreon)

Hey folks! I just wanted to reach out all of you illustrious BIG FISHES, and get your thoughts on some things!

First off, as we saw earlier this month, polls on this "Wonderful Site" have an in built limit of 25 choices! And I'm wondering what you all think would be a good solution? 

On the one hand, I can make more than one poll as I did earlier, but I worry that just results in people being confused? A character may win or be in the top of one poll, but not actually move on to the final round, etc. Plus, there's the concern of certain characters that are really popular getting an advantage if they end up in a poll with less popular ones. I could personally try to group popular characters together into a single poll, but there's always the chance I could miss a character and it feels kind of unfair to put someone's suggestion at a disadvantage just because they might be "popular".

Another obvious solution is to just limit it to 25 choices anyway! I know people often comment about choice paralysis anyway, so keeping the poll to a reasonable number might be good in the long run. The only thing to figure out would be how to decide on those 25 choices! I'm leaning towards just "first-come-first-serve"! It seems the fairest, though it might be hard for certain timezones. 

Another way I could do it is just to pick semi-randomly! I'd probably favor characters I thought were interesting, and it'd make it so it didn't matter what time you commented! But I could see maybe people having issues with that? That's how I operate the stream suggestions, and people seem to be okay with that? So I'm not sure!

Just let me know your thoughts about the topic when you get the chance! Also, lemme know how all of you are feeling about your BIG FISH status! Do you feel like you're getting the value you'd want from the tier itself? Just lemme know!

First come first serve sounds like the most reasonable and least time consuming. Especially cause there's a good chance like last time a lot of characters from the same franchise might end up on the list with so many options.

Overall, I'd say you seem to do well with prompts and characters you enjoy, so I'd lean more into that. However, the more fair option would be to limit the choice to 25 choices, seeing as it can give some fresh perspective/inspiration/exposure to either lesser known or more niche characters.

Oh yeah, to be clear if I did pick semi-randomly I would also pick 25 total! It's just an alternative to first-come-first-serve if some people are worried about maybe missing the time I post the suggestion box.

Actually, quick idea, what if I did first-come-first serve for the first 20 choices and then picked the last 5 choices myself from the remaining comments? It'd be the best of both worlds, as people would have a fair chance of getting their suggestion in if they show up early, but also they'd still have a chance of getting picked even if they showed up late? Plus that way I could ensure there's a few choices in the poll that I find interesting personally!

I think first come first sever should be alright, I’ve been noticing the polls when lot of people are choosing are the popular character. Been noticing that since I first became a member here. It’s not bad honestly but others should get a chance to see what they suggested you know. So far I’m saying your doing fantastic but maybe changing a set of rules could make it easier or maybe confusing but at least try it out.

Yeah you have a good point! However, I'm cautious to make any "rule" because again I don't want to be unfair to someone just because their character happens to be popular? And I mean if that character wins, it's because people voted for them, so it's making a large portion of people happy anyway. I do think I might try to do some sort of "event" type month, similar to the OC month, where I'll favor more obscure characters. It's something to think about!

I'm in favor of an artist's choice along with a first come / first serve system. You always have top tier ideas for stuff, so balancing out choices with the ones you know you'll have fun with, will definitely be a big win for everyone!

I like the first come first serve thing. But what you might be able to do is. Limit it to 25 choices. And then plug thoes into a randomizer and take the 10 to 15 names that it gives you each time, excluding the ones that it might pick again, and post thoes up as the suggestions. And then if that character was picked out by the randomizer for that month, the next month they cant be one of the 25 picked and have to wait till the month after to get back in the list

I'm all for first come first serve. Too many polls will get too complicated, especially if your big fish numbers keep growing to the point where you end up with 3 or more polls. I fine with you picking what you want when it comes to streams, but if you do that with the animation suggestions, then I fear it will just become a game where people only suggest characters that they know you will pick and not so much what they actually want. I think people are fine with you choosing for streams because they are just sketches. To address the "popular vs obscure" problem, doing more event months where you limit it to obscure characters might help, though that could be a little tricky depending on what qualifies as obscure. A trial run might be needed to see how things go. Speaking of event months, I would honestly like more OC animation months. Maybe stick with our own OCs so you don't have to go running around asking multiple artists for permission. I do still kinda miss the topic vote, but I might be in the minority on that one. I'll admit that you have done a pretty good job with picking the topics yourself, so much so that I actually forgot that we used to have a topic vote until now. And if it genuinely has been helping you out by not having it, then I can accept it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my big fish status.

Im down with the first come first serve, the way server is set up I’m always first ha ha. I was one of the ones confused with the last poll as I assumed it was a two team bracket Illumination system similar to basketball or football. Two polls broken down into another poll. With a winner and maybe a wildcard winner. It’s so interesting to see everyone’s Waifu I think this would be the fairest way so there’s not a huge panic rush at start time. But Whatever is decided lewder know best.

Honestly, I think 25 choices is more than enough for a poll. I guess the first come first serve thing isn't entirely fair, but I think it's better than having a bloated poll across multiple posts.

The way I see it is, people who followed your work before you started on This Wonderful Site only expected a "transaction" when they commissioned you: you've made it plenty far enough doing things your way and not using committee, although it hasn't proved to be a bad idea either methinks. Tldr: i trust you to make good random character picks. And as a Big Fish? I'm content. I dont really follow modern trends or pop culture, so I only vaguely know of most of the characters in the animation polls. mostly love your drawings comics and sketches, personally, but i would support you for 10 dollars anyway if it meant you would keep you afloata

Could help to not chose a character that had been chosen the previous month or a franchise from the past month, help keep the choices down. But I also found the way this month was done to be fine for me, I put in A choice and voted, and then there was a second poll with the highest votes

i agree with this, moreso i agree with the fact that some franchises havent gotten in the top 3 at all much less gotten an animation, bleach and jojo to name a few. my hero and rwby keep getting stuff and i think its a little unfair

Thanks to ask us our opinion Lewdlemage, I really appreciate that ;) Limit the polls to 25 choices seems to be a good idea. However, I don't really like the "First come, first serve" idea : It would penalize some PATREONS because of the time difference. But I totally agree that YOU choose the suggested characters that you judge interesting, because : First, you can decide to remove too famous suggested characters and favor un popular characters who would be interesting for you and for us; secondly, as you say, it'd make it so it didn't matter what time your PATREONS commented ! Also : Personnaly, I don't know for the others but I prefer three small animations on three different characters with 3 differents topics (vore, pregnant and stuffed) rather than one big animation, one small animation, and one colored sketch : I find this concept more fair/equitable (But it's just my opinion). About your BIG FISH status : I've noticed when you're drawing in streaming on PICARTO, it's complicated to suggest an idea that will be draw by you... but we don't blame you at all : We all know that you have so many PATREONS now that you can't satisfy everyone. But at least, during this streaming, you draw the 3 topics each time (Preg, vore, stuffed), and that's cool ;) As one of your BIG FISH, I feel that I don't have a lot of influence on your work. I know that the vore-artist FIDCHELLVORE use "The Patreon Milestones list" concept : Some of his PATREONS earn some shiny new token after multiples months payment process. He also uses the website "TRELLO", in order to show to his PATREONS the progression of his work (Drawings, sketch, animation...).
