Greeting, Racers! And welcome back to HyperDrive Cities!

Today, we have an update for the Singapore Highway Project

As we develop the track, there were growing concern regarding the visual road mesh's polycount. Obviously, we want to build the track with the highest visual quality possible. But we also doesn't want a track with poor performance. And with a track at this size, polycount can grow out of control very easily.

So we decided to tackle the potential issue right now and set a rule on how to model the road. The visual road's polycount should be kept as low as possible without sacrificing the curve's smoothness while at the same time having even higher resolution physical mesh to get a better FFB and feel of the road.

And the result was quite good. we should not even noticed that the road's visual mesh has been reduced to a quarter of the previous version!

here's a recap of this version's update:

  • the visual road mesh's polycount has been significantly reduced

  • the physical mesh was rebuilt, now with higher resolution and road bumps

  • Most of the road network in Changi Airport area is now accessible all the way to Terminal 4

  • added the interchange leading north from Changi

  • added the interchange towards the south part of Changi

  • more details and landscapes
