November Updates (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

Lots of things to talk in this update. We'll start with the bad news: API offline again. I think at this point it's safe to say the API will be unavailable permanently due to issues requiring me to turn back on the cloudflare anti-bot. This is beyond my capabilities due to cash flow restrictions, and im sure that larger companies have resources to deal with this issue (dynamic bot protection, whitelisting, etc). The site was basically getting DDOS'd the other day from Romania.

While the next several updates will be to handle such bursts in demand, for right now, the database needs a few more tweaks, namely in how the comment trees are generated and other optimizations (right now, preloading is done under the hood for certain resources like the first page of the gallery - that would need to be adjusted, etc). Anyway,

November Updates Shipped

• Wars now show the proper order of Waifus when displaying results
• War Results now contain pretty progress bars
• War Results now feature image(s) of all contestants
• War history is now fully accessible, going back in time
• War voting now returns a proper error message (hopefully)
• Comments now feature a certified shitpost marker when below 10 points (see anya forger for example)
• Points are now the cumulative point (hearts - trash) for better UX
• Upvote buttons moved to the left side, simplified for better engagement
• Comment performance upgrade (backend concern)
• Fixed error message on comments when rate limit is exceeded
• Cloudflare privacy-first captcha added to registration screen to stop bots

Q1 of 2023

1. You can expect better search provided by Mellisearch. This should be a huge game changer. 

2. Profile tweaks for large lists, smaller form factor views, etc. Right now, mobile devices are a bit rough.

3. The floodgates will be open for tags again. When tags are "voted" on, the system will just keep track of things in bulk and I will keep track of how many votes each tag has a specific waifu. This should stop the flood of bad tags, keep things clean, and provide a way better system for searching by hair color, etc.

4. Improved birthday widget, it's pretty ugly right now.

5. Image pipeline improvements, including size, aspect ratio, etc, so we can enable wallpapers to be submitted for waifus and be able to see those separately. 

6. Performance enhancements, yet again. 

7. Patreon elected WOTDs.
