Hello friends,

And welcome to another by request song tutorial. In today's session, I'll break down how to play the Ray Charles 1959 classic "What'd I Say." I'll take you through Ray's intro riffs, a fender roads inspired strumming pattern, and some bluesy licks and turnarounds to get you performance ready. Let's get started!

One of the most fun lessons. Chords are easy, but the rhythm is hard. Therefore, concentrating on the strumming which is what makes the song shine on the guitar.

Hi Rob - Love this lesson!! I've been working on it for weeks; my new obsession is to be as fast as yours. Question.. when picking the intro riff are you using alternating picking? Or just down picking? Many thanks for your incredible teachings.
