Hello friends,

and welcome back to Swiftlessons for an exclusive lead guitar tutorial. In today's session I'll be breaking down some basic tricks for playing licks and fills in the key of D major. The goal of this lesson will be to master our D major scale in it's open position, and two ear-catching licks you can perform between chords. Natalia and I are currently visiting YouTubers in Las Vegas, Nevada, where we are producing some educational content with "The Science Mom" and two live musical recordings with the innovative electronic duo "Veserium." Be on the look out for that content in the coming weeks.

Quick Tip: Remember to practice the techniques in this video at a slow and steady tempo. The key to building speed is to identify a base tempo where you can perform with confidence, then gradually increase that tempo as you become more proficient.

This was great, Rob, since I've always been trying to work toward playing more than just the strums. Fills always make songs sound more professional and I can use them when writing my own songs. Great, as usual!
