Hello friends, 

In today’s session we’ll be unlocking the fretboard as we connect four positions of the major pentatonic scale to form one extended scale pattern across 12 frets in the key of E major. The goal for your week of practice will be to master ascending and descending through this extended scale, while also recognizing the repetition of five notes; E, F#, G#, B, and C#. Let’s get started! 

Section #1: What is the Major Pentatonic Scale?

A simplified version of the major scale in which the 4th & 7th notes have been omitted. 

Section #2: Extended Major Pentatonic Scale 

The following pattern combines note positions from our D, C, A, and G positions of the major pentatonic scale:
