Hello friends,

and welcome to another lead guitar tutorial! In today's session we'll be reviewing how to play our major scale in the key of D, before putting those notes to work to create a jazzy 16th note run. Let's get started!

D Major Scale:

Practice this scale in time using a metronome. Gradually increase the tempo as you gain proficiency. Focus on performing clean notes with alternate picking.

Lick of the Week:

This 16th note lick outlines a Dmaj7 arpeggio, and is the perfect opportunity to practice your alternate picking.

Thanks for the lesson Rob. I needed a lick to help with my pinky strength, and the pull-off from 12-10 on the b string really helps. Enjoying your Patreon!

Hey Rob, This might be a dumb question... are those play boxes above each part of this lesson supposed to do anything? They look like they are supposed to engage a metronome, but the do nothing when pressed. I just want to make sure I’m not missing some addon app. Thanks!

Hey Paul, that's suppose to link to the corresponding youtube video, but it appears I forgot to add it. Sorry for my mistake, I'll update the pdf. Thanks for letting me know!

Hey John, glad this lesson is serving you well, thanks for the positive feedback. Getting long phrases like this down takes a great deal of repetition, so keep drilling it. Have fun. -Rob
