Hello friends,

and welcome to another lead guitar tutorial. In today's session I'm going to be showing you some of my favorite tricks for soloing over a 1.4.5 progression in Cmaj, as heard in the famous Hank Williams tune "Your Cheatin' Heart." I'll break down each lick, and reveal some of the theory that was involved in creating them. Let's get started!

Wow, Rob, this lesson is loaded with info. I love how you add so many extras to the basics and then expand appreciation of how everything can work together in this song and many others. Lots to put into practice here which is fabulousl

Hey thanks Dawn! Glad you're finding these tips helpful. Revealing my mindset behind writing licks is always fun teaching. Pick out your favorites and practice moving them around the neck in different keys, that's always a powerful exercise. Have a great week!

Music theory and learning the fretboard has always been a major stumbling block for me as well. I dig the way you present these lessons and the time you take with the videos and downloads. Very cool!

Hey Greg, thanks! Players not taking the time to learn the fretboard is easily the biggest hinderance to their progress. I’m going to make it my mission to get everyone fretboard savvy. Quick tip, take time to identify the notes on the e and a strings, then use their octaves to identify the D and G strings. Let me know if you have any questions.

Where are the tabs..?

Hey Clive, I’m not sure what device you’re using, but they should appear as either blue or orange bolded text beneath the video or above the comments section. This service works much better on desktop.

My pleasure Tom. Now I'm doing the Swift Challenge videos, that should provide an additional push to tackle quality projects. Enjoy your progress!
