Hello friends,

Today I'm introducing some items that make for excellent stocking stuffers for guitarist and other musicians this holiday season. Each of these products are ≤ $100, and are things that all players need regardless of genre, and skill level.

Many of these items are constantly being misplaced (guitar picks!) and so players are always happy to have a spare. Let me know what you think of my top-ten-list, and if you have any suggestions for next year. Thanks!

1. Dunlop Guitar Capo - http://amzn.to/2ktQrJM ($15)

Over the course of my career I have bought dozens of capos, and almost all of which have been left at gigs, "borrowed" or mysteriously vanished. for this reason, your average guitarist is more than happy to have an extra capo handy.

2. Ubertuner Clip on Tuner - http://bit.ly/2aqIl1r ($23)

The Ubertuner is a super sturdy, and stylish alternative to the popular Snark tuner. It's highly accurate, reliable, and features a super bright LCD screen. It's awesome!

3. Gator-Grip Picks (72 Bag) - 96mm - http://amzn.to/2BcecjT ($16)

Like capos, picks have a way of vanishing (into another dimension?) and guitarist and bassist can always use a bunch of extras. Some guitarist have strong preferences on pick thickness, so when in doubt, go for a mixed bag or settle for mediums.

4. Dunlop 222 Brass Guitar Slide - http://amzn.to/2C5b7Qu ($6)

A good slide is a must have in any guitarist gig bag. This is a good standard brass slide with medium weight, size and thickness. If you know your recipient has thick fingers, be sure to get a large.

5. Guitar & Bass Maintenance Kit - http://amzn.to/2BIrWne ($32)

My favorite item on the list. This kit has every tool you need to setup and restring a standard acoustic or electric guitar. Though you would need to buy an additional truss-rod Allen wrench if you're working on a Les Paul.

6. Finger-ease (2 pack) - http://amzn.to/2yjxEWD ($12)

This magic solution allows you to move around the neck more smoothly, while reducing the sound of your hands brushing against the strings. It improves the longevity of your strings, and also reduces finger tenderness! Finger-ease is the perfect gift for guitarist, bassist, and ukulele pickers!

7. Planet Waves Custom Series Cable - http://amzn.to/2kqVdI1 ($24)

Musicians of all kinds will always appreciate a quality patch cable. These things get misplaced, or break under constant wear and tear. You can't miss with this gift option!

8. LyxPro Premium Series Mic XLR Cable - http://amzn.to/2BFbBzS ($12)

Musicians that record their own music or perform live are constantly in need of numerous XLR cables. The more the better!

9. Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Headphones - http://amzn.to/2BWRsBs ($99)

A good pair of studio headphones for mixing or just enjoying some good tunes. Musicians with home recording studios tend to need several sets on hand when recording groups.

10. Shure SM57 Instrument Microphone- http://amzn.to/2C7iKG9 ($89)

The industry standard for recording all types of instruments. There's no risk of your special someone saying "I already have an sm57" because home recording artist and live performers always need an arsenal of these incredibly useful microphones.

Love your list, Rob. What a great idea for gift buying any time of the year. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for charitable giving to organizations that help/support/advance musicians and music, for those who would like to give that way. Thanks!

Hey Dawn, my mind immediately went toward the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, but your question has peaked my interest and I'm making an effort to find other non-profits that do this kind of work. Oh, and in Philadelphia we have a program called Rock to the Future that is doing tremendous things for lower income youngsters. http://rocktothefuture.org/
