First things first, that Ravenclaw t-shirt is so damn cool!

Mereoleona14

that mad dog missed and we got first set?

Shugoshin

Oh man imagine if mad dog was on Johzenji. Sarah would hate the volleyball IQ even more.

Kenise Harvey

Not the 360 camera pan. Yamaguchi out here looking like he means business, let's go!

Alex Park

Oh yeah. A "let's have fun" team with a "strength is a prerequisite for respect" rogue player? A recipe for genuine Oikawa-exceeding levels of Sarah hate.

I think Shimada's argument is that the momentum carries more so than that whoever wins the second set also wins the third. Right now Seijoh is running away with it; they have a good lead and they are smashing through. His fear is that if Karasuno doesn't cut that off now they will start the next set with this momentum and get a lead there again, which would make it that much more difficult to come back. Whethere that's true or not... I'm definitely not the volleyball expert here. But that seems to be what he means at the very least.

Do you see players like mad dog a lot in the pros? I view him as someone super volatile as we see in the episode, but would his unpredictability outweigh his power and strength of his swing ? Or would the pro levels be looking for more consistency? Also I thought both of your reactions to Oikawa’s serve right after was really funny. You both had this knowing look of how it feels when a serve slams past in the blink of an eye!

Sarah

Yeah that's fair. We kind of speak to that at the end of the episode when Adam asks me if I think that's accurate. I would tend to agree with you

Sarah

You don't tend to see athletes like Mad Dog in the pros too often. Organizations don't often want to deal with athletes like that... more trouble than they are worth

If I'd compare Mad Dog with a real life volleyball player, I'd say Vargas or Karakurt from Turkey. (Since I don't really follow the male indoor volleyball, I don't have an example, but these two are already enough for examples lol). Why do I think that? Well, the agressive/powerful plays, obviously. Nothing more. They have a pretty similar playing style. But I think that Karakurt is closer to Mad Dog's style than Vargas. That's just my opinion, tho.

Sarah

Oh my gosh, you need to watch my video "Haikyu!! Characters as Real Life Volleyball Players" in the Haikyu!! Analysis playlist 👀

*not spoilers So a little detail about Mad Dog, in the wiki, official games, etc. he is listed as an opposite rather than a wing spiker. I am not sure why they said he is a wing spiker in this episode. Just a hands up for the up coming drafts
