I think the idea that the hitter is the one in charge is that with a fast quick attack like that, Hinata is the one that chooses when and where he jumps. Kageyama can choose whether to set him the ball or not, but he can't decide when and where Hinata jumps. That's Hinata's call. He leads, Kageyama can only choose to follow or not.

One thing I think is really interesting that I haven't caught onto before is Tanaka doesn't say "don't fight" he says "don't fight in front of girls or the principal". I think he probably thinks like Adam does that fighting is pretty normal for guy teammates, and clearly understands that after you fight it's all good again like Adam said.
