February 2021 Mid-Month Update (Patreon)

Hey all,

Today marks the second anniversary of Heart of the Woods' PC release, and we've got a bunch of HOTW-related news to share today.

First up, we're finally able to announce that Ratalaika has taken over the HotW port and should be finishing it up in the next couple weeks. We had some troubles with previous porters that led to us having to start over twice, and now Ratalaika's version will be the third. They have a great track record though, and have ported a TON of Ren'Py games to console, so we're fully confident that the third time's the charm, in this case. We're looking at a Q2 release for the console versions, although we'll be getting Switch keys to Kickstarter backers ahead of the full release.

You might notice that I said "console versions," and not just "version." That's right: HotW will be coming to Playstation 4 as well, and we're looking into additional platforms too. More on that later.

We also have some new Heart of the Woods merch to celebrate the anniversary! Adri, adi and minute each drew a sticker set featuring our gals, and each with a different theme. You can get the stickers and put 'em on whatever you want, of course, but we also made a postcard version of the "I Told You So!" background art. The idea is that you can get the postcard and arrange the stickers on it to make a complete scene.

Moving on to non-HotW news, there's been a lot of Please Be Happy progress! Minute and adi have been hard at work getting the GUI set up and implemented and making sure it all works well. Since we have some new features like map movement and the dual textboxes, it's been more complicated than setting up a game like Highway Blossoms or Heart of the Woods. Everything looks super lovely in-engine though, and I can't wait to be able to share more screenshots and previews.
